Extreme Makeover: Inner City Christchurch
Leighs Construction have recently completed a challenging regeneration project in central Christchurch, which provides new office space, car parking and a high quality retail space within an established building.
The High to Hereford building originally housed a food court through its entire ground level, and a couple of limited access residences on the basement level.
The basement level was completely stripped out, and new access ramps were constructed, turning the area into a car parking space. A new first floor was added to the building which now provides an office space for Telecom New Zealand.
The original ground floor was streamlined and enhanced and now hosts a collection of high quality retail outlets such as the Body Shop, Rip Curl and Levis. The food court has been retained but has been vastly improved both functionally and aesthetically.
Clever insight by the client married with inventive problem solving from Leighs Construction has resulted in a hugely modernised High to Hereford building which is a great boost for the city centre.
